At his heaviest, Andrew weighed 540 pounds. It was only when he had a seizure, caused by a health issue he was born with, that he decided he needed to make some serious changes.
“I was too large to get down the steps in the stretcher,” he says. “They were contemplating either cutting down the side of my house so they could forklift me out of my bedroom, or what ended up happening, walk down the steps. And that was a huge wake-up call… You don’t realize how messed up your situation is until you’re forced to realize.

Andrew started off slow with his exercise, setting himself the achievable goal of walking a mile around the block. After that, he began going to the gym. “I fell in love almost instantly,” he says. Discovering this passion for working out led to him ultimately losing a staggering total of 270 pounds.
“You are the only one who can fix your life, you can’t rely on others to do the work for you,” he says. “To anyone who does want to lose weight, get going now, start now. Don’t wait.”
