Podcast: Breaking Down the Difference Between Eczema and Psoriasis

Eczema and psoriasis are both long-term skin conditions that don’t have a cure. In eczema, the immune system comes to the skin and releases chemical inflammatory markers that cause the skin to become red, weepy and itchy, according to Dawn Davis, M.D., a Mayo Clinic dermatologist. In psoriasis, the immune system secretes inflammatory markers that cause the skin to overgrow and become red and scaly.

Over time, people with eczema or psoriasis may see their skin get better only to experience a flare, in which the condition gets worse.

Dr. Davis goes in-depth on both conditions and how to manage them in this Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast: https://share.transistor.fm/s/946775d5
