Detoxing your liver is important to maintain your overall health and wellbeing. It can help improve digestion, reduce bloating, and even give you more energy. A 6-step liver cleanse can help optimize your liver health and give you a much needed boost.
Step 1: Start by drinking plenty of water. Water helps flush toxins out of the body and helps the liver function more efficiently. Aim for eight glasses a day and make sure to drink filtered or bottled water. Mix a fresh liver detox mocktail:
Liver Detox Drink
- Dilute cranberry juice with a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part cranberry juice.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon each of nutmeg and ginger and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into a tea infuser and let steep in simmering water for 20 minutes.
- Allow to cool to room temperature.
- Add the juice of 3 oranges and 3 lemons and stir. If the mixture is too tart, sweeten with your favorite all-natural sweetener.

You should consume a minimum of 72 ounces of this mixture and 72 ounces of water. After one day of the cranberry juice blend, reintroduce the foods you ate in preparation for the liver cleanse.
Step 2: Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. These contain antioxidants that help protect the liver from damage. Aim to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
Step 3: Avoid processed foods, sugar, and saturated fats. These can be very hard on the liver and can contribute to a build-up of toxins.
Step 4: Add some liver-supportive herbs to your diet. Milk thistle, dandelion root, and turmeric are all great for detoxing the liver.
Step 5: Exercise regularly. Exercise helps the body eliminate toxins by sweating and increases circulation of the blood to the liver.
Step 6: Get plenty of rest. Sleep is important for repairing and restoring the body and the liver. Aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep a night.
