Here’s a simple homemade honey citrus shampoo recipe that uses natural ingredients to gently cleanse your hair while nourishing it:
Honey Citrus Shampoo Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup liquid castile soap (unscented or citrus-scented)
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (or orange juice for a milder option)
- 1/2 teaspoon olive oil (optional – adds moisture)
- 5–10 drops essential oil (optional – e.g., lemon, orange, grapefruit, or rosemary)
- 1/4 cup distilled water or aloe vera juice (to dilute)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl or container, combine the honey and citrus juice. Stir until fully blended.
- Add the olive oil and essential oils (if using), then mix well.
- Slowly stir in the liquid castile soap and water or aloe vera juice.
- Pour the mixture into a squeeze bottle or old shampoo bottle.
- Shake gently before each use.
To Use:
- Wet your hair thoroughly.
- Apply a small amount of shampoo and massage it into your scalp.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Follow with a light conditioner or a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse (1 tbsp ACV in 1 cup water) if desired.
Notes:
- Store in the fridge if you use fresh juice; it should last about 1 week. For longer shelf life, use only essential oils instead of fresh juice.
- Always patch test new products to ensure there’s no irritation.
